Yei Joint Stars WFC opened their CECAFA campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Denden FC

Yei Joint Stars WFC made a strong start to the CAF Women’s Champions League 2026 – CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers, defeating Eritrean side Denden FC 3-0 in a dominant display.

Poni Esther Wani opened the scoring in the 27th minute, giving Yei Joint Stars the lead before the break.

The South Sudanese side returned from halftime with even more intensity, with Aluka Grace doubling the advantage in the 52nd minute before completing her brace in the 73rd minute to seal a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Denden FC struggled to find a way back into the match as Yei Joint Stars controlled the game and maintained their advantage until the final whistle.

The result sends a strong early message from Yei Joint Stars: they have arrived in Kigali not just to participate, but to fight seriously for a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League.
